This Little Project

A little black kitten — cautious of the world, and feared by it in return. A creature shaped by thresholds, existing between projection and vulnerability, curiosity and suspicion. The liminal often unsettles not because it is dangerous, but because it resists fixed categories.

The Liminal Self is an interdisciplinary intellectual blog by a PhD candidate in Historical Socio-Linguistics and Medieval Studies at Newcastle University, UK. Specialising in cognitive semantics, identity studies, and historiography, this blog explores religion, power structures, language, gender, and cognition through historical, linguistic, and philosophical analysis.

From the Author:

I am a historical linguist specialising in how language, cognition, and Power shape identity. My doctoral research develops a comprehensive theoretical framework for identity studies, integrating Prototype Theory of Semantic Structures, cultural othering, spatial semantics, and gender performativity. This provides a transferable model for analysing how identities are produced and negotiated across linguistic, historical, and cultural contexts.
